Crusader Connection 12-4-20
December 4, 2020
Dear OLGC School Families,
Despite the challenges, or opportunities, presented to us in the last year, as ONE FAMILY we continue to make great progress towards our school goals and common vision. Students are excelling academically in their classrooms and in our Student Support Program. They are coming to school each day ready to learn and grow. Our students continue to motivate our hard-working staff and teachers to do our best in serving your families. Thank you for continuing to support our students through the investment of time and engagement, our staff through your constant encouragement, and being an active member of our Christian community. Your charity and willingness to assist others in our community has united our school family and made us stronger.
As we enter into our 16th week of school, let us continue to give thanks to God for His protection among our school community and the ability to offer in-person instruction. We have witnessed first-hand the importance of in-person instruction for a child’s academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. Our staff and teachers are treasuring every minute with your precious children. In fact, your child should be coming home tired because their days at OLGC are most productive!
Our school is unique because of our mission to offer a life-changing encounter with Jesus. This week, the Lord blessed us as we began preparing for the coming of our Savior. We began this Advent season with wreath blessings, the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in Mass, the sacrament of Reconciliation, priest classroom visits and blessings, a vocation speaker, small discipleship groups with Be Love Revolution, a Crusaders for Life gathering, First Friday Adoration, and a retreat for our middle school students. All of this was made possible by your partnership with our staff whose strength, passion, and support are an inspiration!
I would like to invite you to take some time this Advent season to prayerfully discern participating in
this Winter. Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the basics of the Christian faith. If you are interested in having a safe, non-judgmental, friendly, and welcoming space to learn more about God with fellow OLGC school parents, sign up for the informational session
. When registering, you can select that you are a school parent. It would be wonderful to have small groups of school parents to build community and grow in faith together. You can view some Alpha testimonials
. Please let me know if you have any questions. My husband, Travis, and I have hosted Alpha in our home for the OLGC staff and teachers. It is an incredible experience!
In Christ’s love,

Catholic Foundation of Michigan Grant Recipient
We are so blessed to announce that a grant written by Mrs. Fitch entitled "Building Disciples at OLGC Parish School" has been selected and is being made possible in part by a grant from the Catholic Foundation of Michigan! OLGC was one of thirty-three organizations chosen to be supported out of over one hundred applicants this year. This grant will allow us to incorporate more of "Be Love Revolution" into our Middle School/Junior High grade levels as a tool of evangelization.

Please complete the short one question survey to provide input for the 2021-2022 school calendar.
Over the Thanksgiving break, OLGC Parish School received a second application of Bioshield Protection. This keeps viruses from adhering to surfaces. We are remaining diligent with our safety and cleaning protocols. The safety and well-being of everyone has been a full community effort. Thank you for your continued prudent decisions outside of school.
Please remember to keep your child home if they display any symptom or if any member of your family is awaiting a Covid-19 test result. You will be pleased to know that even with the number of students who have cautiously quarantined from time to time this semester, we have experienced
fewer absences this year than last year! Our safety plan is working!
Thank you to Ford Motor Company
OLGC was the recipient of 4,500 masks donated by Ford Motor Company. This donation will allow us to continue distributing masks at the school front office to anyone in need of one.
Priest Christmas Donation
Every Christmas we make a special request for a SMALL donation from each family so that we may give our priests, Msgr Halfpenny, Fr. Anthony and Fr. Tim, gifts from our school community. If you would like to contribute, please send in your donation by Friday, December 11th to the school office marked "Priest Donations" and sign the cards.
Adopt a Family
Please make sure to use the Sign-Up Genius link for your classroom adopted family. All gift items must be sent in by Monday, December 14th. All items will be delivered by students on Tuesday, December 15th.
The school is also collecting non-perishable food items to donate to families.
NEW Arrival Plan Success
