Blessed New Year!
As we start 2026, we begin with hearts full of gratitude for the many ways our parish community came through during the Christmas season, especially with the Giving Tree tags, the St Kizito's Fundraiser, and the PBJ shoebox collection. I'd also like to acknowledge the members of Work of Our Hands, St Vincent De Paul, Manna Meals, our Bereavement ministers, Meals by Referral and our Blood Drives and Blood Pressure Screenings. We have so many volunteers who do what I'd describe as "undercover" ministry that I can't list them all here. But please know your efforts do not go unnoticed and everyone here at OLGC is so grateful for you.
In this January update, I have listed just a few timely opportunities for you and your family members to serve and dates to keep in mind. Thank you for prayerfully considering where God would like you to dedicate your time, talent or treasure.

LIFE ISSUES MINISTRY
Our annual Rose Mass commemorating all of the lives lost to abortion since 1973 takes place Wednesday January 21st at 6pm. We are still in need of Rose walkers. Please consider signing up here for a year that has significance for you. During the rose ceremony, individuals walk down the aisle as their year is called and place a rose in a crib at the foot of the altar. A short reflection is read as they walk. If you decide to sign up, you will receive instructions on Wednesday morning as to the procedure. This is a very solemn and somber ceremony as we remember all who have been affected by over 50 years of legalized abortion in the United States and here in Michigan.
COLLECTION FOR TRAFFICKED VICTIMS
Starting January 31st, we'll be collecting travel-sized hygiene items for Anchored Hope Outreach, a faith-based Street Outreach Ministry working to fight human trafficking by serving the needs of victims in Detroit. PBJ TOWN HALL
P.B.J. Outreach invites you to attend their upcoming Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, January 28 from 6pm to 8pm in the Social Hall. (A typo in this weekend's bulletin indicated an incorrect start time; 6pm is the correct start time.)
They will be serving a light dinner in appreciation for their regular volunteers, and they would love for people who have never volunteered to attend the event to learn more about their ministry and discover ways to get involved! All are welcome!
MAKE YOUR HEALTH A PRIORITY
Did you know nearly half of all adults in the US have high blood pressure but many are unaware? Consider attending one of our Blood Pressure Clinics after the 4pm Mass in the Fr Byrne Room/Library. Margo Murphy, our Faith Community Nurse, will take your blood pressure and teach you how to take yours at home, as well as provide you with educational materials on hypertension.
