Lenten Blessings everyone!
As we begin this penitential season, I wanted to share a unique and fun opportunity we have with our sister parish in Detroit, as well as some Evangelical Charity updates:
ST ALOYSIUS: Many of you may recall last November Fr. Mario Amore, Moderator of Saint Aloysius, came to OLGC to celebrate Mass and thank us for our continued generosity during this 35-year relationship. He concluded his homily by inviting us to visit St Al's and meet the people they serve - the majority of whom experience homelessness and mental health challenges. While this may make us feel apprehensive or even fearful, Fr. Mario reminded us that these are still our brothers and sisters in Christ and there is truly nothing to be afraid of. I'm excited to share we have a chance to meet these wonderful people as we sponsor their monthly Grill Club!
Join us Saturday March 22nd from 10am-12pm outside St Al's. We need grillers, folks to hand out the food & beverages, in addition to volunteers to evangelize and just hang out and enjoy fellowship. We may carpool from OLGC for those interested. Sign up here or at the link below for more details.
SAVE THE DATE: Saturday April 5th at 9am is our 4th Annual Mercy in Action Day. We will be "Comforting the Sorrowful" by making a handmade craft and delivering blessing bags to our grieving families. Sign up coming soon!
BLOOD PRESSURE CLINICS: Our Parish Nurse, Margo Murphy, will hold blood pressure clinics on the last Saturday of the month starting March 29th. They will take place after the 4pm Mass from 5pm-6pm in the Fr. Byrne Room/Library. No sign up required.
SVdP: Our St. Vincent de Paul Society is hosting Coffee and Donuts tomorrow March 9th in the Social Hall. SVdP volunteers make home visits to our neighbors in need and help them on the path to stability. Please stop by C&D and say hello and prayerfully consider if the Lord is calling you to join our team of Vincentians! They can be reached at saintvincent@olgcparish.net.
PRISON MINISTRY: We have been blessed to have a Prison Ministry here for two years. This ministry serves at Huron Valley Women's Correctional Facility in Ypsilanti and would love for you to join their team of volunteers. Reach out to Lisa and Steve at PrisonMinistry@olgcparish.net and read some of their story on page 9 of this weeks bulletin.
Thanking God ahead of time for your generous heart, and know of my prayers for a blessed and fruitful Lent!
In Christ,
Michelle Piccolo - Evangelical Charity
